B. it also states that it could lead to widespread job losses as automation replaces human workers
C. it also states that it could lead to widespread job losses as human workers are replaced by automation
D. it also states that it could lead to widespread job losses, as automation replaces human workers
E. it also states that it could lead to widespread job losses, human workers will be replaced by automation
Hello Shilpa,
You have a good point!
Here’s why B & C are not correct though –
B – without the comma, there would be a comma splice with the “as” clause. Ideally, the sentence would be better written had there been a semi-colon instead of a comma after “… and work” (though this difference between different punctuation marks is not tested on the GMAT).
C – “as human workers are replaced by automation” is in passive voice while the rest of the sentence is in active voice (what tech does or can do).
Hope this helps!
Ok ok. Understood. Thank you for the explanation.
Passive voice in one part of the sentence will not be parallel to the other part which is in active voice.
